Tomáš Brauner
Tomáš Brauner (1978) graduated from the Prague Conservatoire in 1999, where he studied oboe with Prof. František Kimel, and in 2001 he completed his conducting studies there under Prof. Miriam Němcová and Prof. Miroslav Košler. At the Academy of Music in Prague he studied under Prof. Radomil Eliška, Prof. Josef Kuchinka, Prof. František Vajnar and Associate Prof. Petr Vronský, then he made a study visit to the Universität für Müsik und darstellende Künst Wien where he worked under Prof. Uroš Lajovič. He has also participated in master classes with Prof. Kurt Masur in Wroclav.
Since 2001 he has been conducting the Czech Chamber Philharmonic, with which he was a guest at the 2003 International Music Festival in Bad Kissingen, where he conducted W. A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. He has also performed with that orchestra in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and elsewhere. At a music festival in Magdeburg with the Prague Chamber Opera he conducted Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia. He has conducted on a recording by the Czech Nonet of works by Sergei Prokofiev (Praga Digital/Harmonia Mundi). In cooperation with the Tón Opera Studio of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague he rehearsed and conducted Bohuslav Martinů’s opera Ženitba and W. A. Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.
In September 2007 he guest conducted the Moscow State Radio Symphony Orchestra, accompanying leading soloists from the Mariinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg and Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre. In April 2008 he participated in a production of Janáček’s opera Jenůfa in Mexico City.
Tomáš Brauner regularly conducts the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic in Zlín, the opera orchestra of the North Bohemia Theatre, the Ústí nad Labem Ballet, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in Olomouc, the Pilsen Philharmonic, 
the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Pardubice, the orchestra of the Prague Children’s Opera, Virtuosi Pragensia and the Berg Chamber Orchestra.
In 2006 he was appointed as a permanent guest conductor of the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, and since 2008 he has been engaged by the opera company of the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, where the works he has conducted include Tchaikovsky’s The Maid of Orleans, Verdi’s Nabucco, Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Puccini's La Bohéme, Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur and Gounod’s Faust. Since 2009 he has been also engaged by the State Opera of Prague, where he has conducted include Verdi's Othello and Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia.
